WHO WE ARE?

The Platform of Volunteer Centres and Organizations was established in August 2011 as a result of activities conducted during the European Year of Volunteering in 2011, along with the informal networking efforts of volunteer centres that began in Slovakia as early as 2009.

OUR ACTIVITIES

The primary objective of the Platform is to foster an environment conducive to the development of volunteering. It brings together volunteer centres and organizations engaged with volunteers in Slovakia, working towards its goals through the following activities:

  • Building the infrastructure of volunteering in Slovakia by establishing new volunteer centres and enhancing the quality of existing ones in collaboration with NGOs, state administration, municipalities, the private sector, and media.
  • Advocating for legal and economic support for volunteer centres and organizations involved in volunteering.
  • Securing financial support for volunteering, including the creation of grant programs and other tools to aid volunteering and volunteer centres, supported by the state, municipalities, NGOs, the private sector, and individuals.
  • Incorporating volunteering into the legal framework to promote its support.
  • Supporting the capacity development and professionalization of individuals working with volunteers in NGOs, public institutions, municipalities, churches, etc.
  • Promoting the establishment and development of a working position for volunteer coordinators within NGOs and public institutions.
  • Advocating for volunteering as a tool for informal education and supporting the integration of volunteering and community service into formal education.
  • Emphasizing volunteering as a preparation tool for the labor market.
